To Enshrine A Memory
This July two of my pieces were selected to participate in beautifully curated Call for Work exhibition entitled “To Enshrine A Memory” at the Gamult Gallery in Minneapolis, MN. This annual show draws submissions from artists working in a wide range of styles, mediums, and perspectives. This year, 167 artists submitted over 700 works for consideration. Guest curator Juleana Enright reviewed all submissions and, through careful and intuitive selection uncovered a resonant thematic thread. From this collection, 34 works by 28 artists were chosen for the exhibition.
The works collectively explored the tension between holding and releasing, between memory and renewal. They examined what it means to live well and how we might prepare ourselves to die well, too. They reflected on our connection to land, body, ancestry, and impermanence.
